Saturday, Nov 3, 2-6. Felting a Hat on a Ball! (Part 1) $70. Renee will teach you how to create a hat by felting and fulling in 3D! You’ll be shocked and amazed at how merino wool can be felted into a hat shape. We’ll also block the felted hats. Bring a big shirt to protect your clothing (we’ll be working with soapy water). Part 2 will be on Saturday 11-10. In Part 2 we’ll finish the hats that have had an opportunity to dry.

Come see how a hat is created from scratch! This is the way hats have been created for hundreds of years. She will be blocking a hat on a wooden form and talking about various millinery tools and techniques. She will have lots of materials and examples for you to handle so you can get a better understanding of what goes into making a handcrafted hat. Stabbert will give a talk on how Resistance fighters throughout the ages used fashion as a way to communicate their message and inspire others, and how this technique can be used to NOW to empower you to provoke social change. She will have one of her pieces that shows symbolic representation of secret/symbolic language of flowers developed in the Victorian era.
